Prep the Surface: Before carving, the leather must be “cased” by dampening it with a sponge and allowing it to soak in until the leather almost returns to its original color.
The Master’s Grip: Place your index finger in the cradle of the yoke, your thumb on one side of the barrel, and your middle and ring fingers on the opposite side.
